Global Education Unit Plan
Writing and implement my first-ever attempt at a Global Education unit plan was initially extremely difficult for me. I was unfamiliar with the course's required submission platform, Understanding by Design, and had the additional challenge of attempting to encompass a wide variety of content areas, including musical concepts. Because I only teach students in two forty-minute periods per week, I needed to be extremely efficient in what I included in my unit plan. I ultimately ended up scaling my lessons in the unit plan back, due to time constraints caused by concert prep and end-of-year testing; however, I feel that the students came away from this unit with a good working knowledge of my three primary unit objectives 1) A knowledge of West Africa, 2) An understanding of gender equality and the role it plays in education and 3) New drumming skills!
